First Indications of Saville Enquiry Findings
This evening The Guardian reports that the Saville Enquiry report, to be released next Tuesday, will conclude that the killings on Bloody Sunday were unlawful. There are also some quiet rumblings in Northern Ireland that when no parts of the report have been redacted prior to its public release.
If both of these prove accurate, this means that the report in full to be released on Tuesday will include findings that are almost certain to result in litigation and perhaps criminal prosecutions in relation to Bloody Sunday and its aftermath. Next week we will be providing some analysis of the report, but for now we recommend you read Prof. Christine Bell’s excellent guest post on Bloody Sunday and Human Rights in Northern Ireland.
UPDATE: Saturday’s Irish Times carries this report of the aftermath of Bloody Sunday and the lead up to the Saville Report.
